Bill Johnson would do great job at the Beacon Council

Mayor: Bill Johnson “would do a great job” at the Beacon Council - Business - MiamiHerald.com: " Mayor Carlos Gimenez was asked about Port Miami Director Bill Johnson’s interest in the vacant CEO position at the Beacon Council, the county’s private but also tax-funded economic development agency. “I wish him the best,’’ Gimenez said. “He is going to have to go through the competitive process like everybody else, and we will see what happens at the end of the day. He been a great asset to the Port of Miami. If he were to get the job at the Beacon Council, I think he would do a great job there, too.” Johnson’s deputy, Juan Kuryla, had been set to take the top job at the Jacksonville port this month, but decided to stay after Johnson publicly expressed interest in the Beacon Council post. The Beacon Council has begun what it describes as a national search, and has declined to say who may be in the running for the post left vacant by Frank Nero’s departure in March."

Bill Johnson is heads above the other possibles.
